The government determines the DA based on the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPIN-IW), which measures inflation. The revision for January 2025 will be calculated using data from July to December 2024.
As per the latest data from the Labour Bureau, the All-India CPI-IW stood at 143.7 in December 2024, indicating a possible 2% hike in DA for central government employees. If implemented, the DA after revision will rise to 55.98% under the 7th Pay Commission.
However, employees should wait for an official notification from the Centre before expecting any changes in their salaries.
