Over 10k Women Benefited in Trichy

Under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme, a total of 10,000 pregnant women in Trichy City will be provided financial assistance. Each selected beneficiary will receive a total benefit of ₹18,000 under the scheme. Out of this, ₹14,000 will be disbursed in cash across three installments:

  • ₹6,000 during the fourth month of pregnancy,
  • ₹6,000 after delivery, and
  • ₹2,000 at the end of the ninth month after delivery.

The remaining ₹4,000 will be provided in the form of two nutrition kits, which will be distributed to the beneficiaries at designated stages during the pregnancy and postnatal period.

Objective of Dr Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme

The main objective of the Dr. Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme is to ensure proper maternity care for pregnant women in Tamil Nadu. This scheme is designed to support expecting mothers by promoting safe and healthy pregnancies, as well as secure deliveries.

Under this scheme, the Tamil Nadu government provides financial assistance in five installments, totaling Rs. 14,000. In addition to the monetary support, beneficiaries also receive the Amma Nutrition Kit, which is aimed at improving maternal nutrition during pregnancy.
